In this episode, I'm peeling back the curtain on my personal battle with rest and relaxation and announcing my year of self-healing experiment.

Join me as I commit to becoming my own dream client in 2024 through weekly self-healing sessions, creating restful habits, nourishing routines, and navigating life and leadership with an ADHD brain.

I'm predicting that by pouring into myself in such a big way this year that 2024 will be my most abundant year yet.

If you'd like to create your own version of this, I also share how you can approach your own desires and goals for the year this way.

Speaker 1:

Hello, I am so excited to dig into today's episode. So this is the first live episode I have recorded in over two years, so I decided I want to jump right in with a self-healing experiment. So we are now, of course, in the new year. It is 2024 if you are listening to this as it is coming out, and while I don't necessarily subscribe to the idea of going full force when it is still winter, truly the new year for me is in spring, especially since I am all about the cyclical nature of things. However, I am noticing that there are a lot of things that I would really like to sink into, over the next few months at least, and that is my own self-healing, and that really does align with the season that we are in. So, without further ado, I just want to share what this is going to look like and why I am sharing this with you and how it might benefit you on your own journey.

Speaker 1:

So one of the things that I have noticed lately is I am really struggling to fully rest. I might be resting in a really external way, like you will see me sitting on the couch or reading a fiction book, or taking baths, like all the things that are really helpful for resting and getting that mental break. But on the inside, my ADHD brain is running wild. I am having trouble sleeping, my brain is just on constant overload because I am really struggling to sink into that rest. I am really struggling to overcome the mind gremlins, as you want to call them, or mind monkeys, and what I am realizing is that I really want to deepen my life, my own work on myself, and I want to be my own client, so to speak. I want to be my own dream client, and so I'm going to start pouring the energy that I would pour into one of my own clients, into myself, and I'm calling this my self healing experiment, and so what it's going to look like and it's going to change season to season because, right, I'm all about that cyclical nature of things and how each season has its own value, it has its own gifts, with it being winter, what I really want to focus on is doing my own self healing.

Speaker 1:

I have several healing modalities that I use with my clients and, believe it or not, it is so easy to resist your own healing, especially when you are your own healer. So I'm going to use this opportunity to actually do a weekly healing session on myself and I want to share that with you guys. I'm going to share what that journey looks like, what's coming up, and then, secondly, I'm going to really push past this discomfort that I have around resting, and there are actually seven different types of rest. So resting is not just going to be making sure I get enough sleep although that is a really big deal right now I'm really not getting enough sleep. But secondly, there are other types of rest. There's creative rest, there is mental rest, there's emotional rest, there's social rest. There's all these things that we need to do to basically be our most vibrant selves. That's so much more than that bare minimum of just okay, I'm getting enough sleep. I'm getting a bell bath every now and then, like there are other ways that I really want to fill my cup.

Speaker 1:

I really miss being creative. I used to write poetry all the time, I used to be learning how to paint, and so there's certain things that I'm wanting to come back to in my own creative journey as well. And then the other aspect is I've been feeling really burnt out lately, like super burnt out, and it's mainly coming from my own mental anxiety and stress and overwhelm. Part of this is having an ADHD brain and just struggling sometimes to do all the things that are really normal, like taking care of the house and making sure the laundry is done, making sure we have a meal plan for the week, all those kind of things, very simple things, but lately I've been really struggling with those. So a big part of it as well is going to make sure that I have some kind of routine, and I don't know about you guys, but I really love a gold star To this day. There's like that little girl inside me that wants a gold star, and so I'm like you know what, why don't I give myself my own gold star? So I'm gonna create a tracker that's gonna go on my refrigerator and it's gonna be a way for me to kind of track some of these habits, like the weekly self healing and the different rest activities that I'm gonna decide to do, and the routines. So these routines are gonna really help me manage my life better and my theory is that when I start pouring into myself these dreams, these goals that I have for this year, it's gonna be a lot easier for those things to actually happen. So I don't know if you guys have ever read Atomic Habits.

Speaker 1:

Atomic Habits is amazing. If you have not read that book, I highly recommend it. It's actually number one on the New York not New York Times bestseller. Maybe it is on that one as well, but it's actually the number one book being sold on Amazon right now. Like Out of all the books, it is the number one book that's on Amazon right now and this book did not just come out, which is so crazy like. I actually read the email newsletter from James Clear he's the author yesterday and he said this is the second time that his book has hit this Level of sales and he never thought that would happen again and I thought that was so cool. And it just speaks to how people are really wanting to change their lives and but change it in a way that's really sustainable.

Speaker 1:

You know, and atomic habits if you haven't read it, the whole premise of the book is it's to really change the way that you approach your desires and your goals. So normally we think about a New Year's resolution and we think about okay, what is this big thing that I want to achieve by the end of the year? What are the multiple things that I want to achieve by the end of the year and most of the time they're really Outcome oriented like I want to make this amount of money, I want to lose this much weight, I want to do x, y and z or have x, y and z, and the problem with that is that outcome. The outcome aspect of it can feel really out of our control, but what is in our control is the habit or the process to get there, and so James clear in the book talks about how what we need to do is create the habits that will lead naturally to that outcome, and Not only have habits, but we want to make small, atomic habits, things that are so doable that we cannot fail, so really setting ourselves up for success.

Speaker 1:

And I feel like this is a very, very nurturing, nourishing, sustainable way to approach goals and that what's interesting about it is that, even though it seems like it won't be enough, right, like if the habit that you're trying like one of my habits that I'm About to start is just moving my body daily, notice that I'm not having a bunch of goals around. I'm going to go full force into the gym, I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna do that. I'm just focused on doing something, and it's really helpful for that resistance that you might feel to doing something really big. If your brain is like, oh well, it has to look this way, I have to do it for this much time, it's very easy to basically convince yourself that you can't do that thing. But if I'm literally saying all I want to do is move my body every day, it could be for five minutes, it could be for ten minutes, it could be for an hour. But the whole point of it is I'm building that muscle, that habit, that this is something that I do.

Speaker 1:

I'm the kind of person that goes for a walk every day and it doesn't matter how long it is, because I'm just becoming that person and that's really what the habits are. It's kind of like changing slowly your identity and and identity shifting and self-concept. It's so much easier to start from changing that. Then it is to focusing on believing you're gonna become that once you get the thing. So I can very easily say, oh well, I'll be the person that does this once I hit that goal. But actually I need to become that person first and then the goal will just naturally Happen over time without so much pressure.

Speaker 1:

And I don't know about you, but I put a lot of pressure on myself. I'm a perfectionist at heart. I'm always recovering from that and it pops up in the most annoying ways, even when I'm like, yes, I've gotten over this. It comes back right. Part of it is the conditioning of our society. We are, we have really high expectations of ourselves and we believe that we need to be all things to all people in order to be valuable, in order to be worthy, and, of course, that is total bullshit. It's not true. However, it can feel very real to us, and so Perfectionism is not the path in terms of getting what we want.

Speaker 1:

So, whatever it is that you are pursuing this year, in 2024, I Want you to think about Okay, great, it's okay to actually have the outcome that this is what I want at the end of the year, awesome, great. So now you kind of know where you're going. But what would that look like on a daily basis? What would be like the small thing that if you did this every single day for a year, it would compound like interest I, and it would make a big difference in you actually achieving that thing. And it is a little bit of a different mindset, because part of you will be like is this going to be enough, is this going to work? Because our brains don't really think that way. We think very linear, linearly, and it's hard to envision that doing this one thing is going to really make a difference. But honestly it really does, because imagine the difference between having, like this crazy plan at the very beginning of the year and you're like, I have to do all these things and this is what's going to get me where I want to go.

Speaker 1:

It feels like this mountain to climb. It's very easy to be in resistance to it, it's very easy to kind of set yourself up to fail, because maybe you'll start off gung ho in the beginning, do it for like maybe two weeks, and then there's a hard thing that happens because we're human and life happens and inevitably you're not able to show up and do the thing that you want to do or not do it in at its fullest, and so, rather than just doing some of it or making it very doable, we just don't do anything. So it's that all or nothing mentality. And so, in order to avoid that, I'm doing myself healing experiment in a way that is really based on these small habits that add up, like making sure I do something restful every day that doesn't include sleep, something that's good for my mind, body or soul, moving my body in some way. And I'm going to be creating a couple of different routines around my house, around cleaning around, just like everyday life things that I've been struggling with lately and rewarding myself with the gold star because, again, inner child happiness makes me feel good. So that's how I'm going to be approaching things, but as a healer specifically because I know a lot of women that are listening to this you are healers, you are creatives, you are doing beautiful work in the world.

Speaker 1:

Your own healing is just as important If not, honestly, it's more important than the work that you do with your clients, because if you are not pouring into yourself, it is going to be so difficult for you to hold that space and pour that energy into someone else. And I know that it's kind of like that old thing that we hear all the time If you're on an airplane, you have to make sure that you put the oxygen on your face first before you put on other people. We've heard that a million times and, as people who are supporting others, it is important to make sure that it is really our job to take immaculate care of ourselves. It is our job to take immaculate care of ourselves because of the work that we do and because our presence, our energy, is so wrapped up in what we do, even as a creative. If you don't identify as a healer, that's totally fine. But anyone doing creative work, anyone doing service based work, you are pouring your energy out into the world through what you do, through what you create. And so by taking care of yourself first and doing the self healing work, everything can change. Everything can change because you will be becoming the most fully resourced version of yourself.

Speaker 1:

And I have a theory so lately, because I haven't been able to pour into myself the way that I'd like and it hasn't been a priority because I've been overwhelmed I have noticed that my brain is going more towards that scarcity mindset, that the work that I've done over the years that I thought oh my gosh, I've done so much work on this, how is this coming back? But I believe when our bodies are burnt out, when we are in that survival mode, our brain automatically goes to that scarcity thinking right. And it makes sense because our brain's like I don't have enough energy, I'm tired, it starts feeling like nothing is enough, and it's very difficult to access that feeling of overflow and abundance and like everything's going to be fine when we feel like we are receiving the bare minimum of our own self care. And so I have a belief that the more and this is what I'm creating this year I'm going to pour into myself so much over the next year that I believe this year will be the year that I make the most money I've ever made in my life, and that's a big claim to make. It's a big claim to make and it's not from a place of pressure, because I don't want to put pressure on myself in that way. It's coming from a place of how could it not? How could pouring into myself as a business mentor, as a leader, as a healer, as a human, as a person who just wants to feel amazing in her body, how could that not have just a crazy transformative effect on how I show up, the people that I attract, the sales that I make, all that? And so, if you need any encouragement to join me on this journey and create your own version of it, if that is what it needs to be, to get out of that scarcity and feeling like you have more than enough. Maybe that could be your encouragement.

Speaker 1:

For me, there's a lot of different layers to it. I want to feel like my most vibrant, healthy self. I don't want to feel burnt out anymore. I want to feel connected to my local community. I'm getting married this year, which is so exciting, so I have a lot of beautiful things coming into my life and I want to be able to fully receive and experience these things. So that is my why for this challenge and, of course, I want to impact more people with this work. I know that the healing work that I do is crazy, transformational and so valuable and people need to know about it. And I have been hiding my light under a bushel for too long because I've been burnt out and I owe it to myself and I also owe it to the gifts that I have and the people that I'm meant to support to go fully in on my own healing journey and be my own dream client. So I'm so excited to see what comes through from this.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to be documenting this journey, so I will share not on a daily basis, because that would be a little crazy, but I am committing to a weekly podcast episode, and there's going to be different lessons. There's going to be different things that are coming through as I dedicate myself to this journey and I can't wait to share them with you, and I would love, if this resonates with you, to let me know. Send me an email I'll put the email in the show notes here or you can join my Facebook community, wild Woman Collective, and share there Like, share what your version of this is going to be. And I haven't done all of this yet, but I will be creating a guide for you and I'll be opening my own self healing membership site very soon where you have an access to a library of all of my healings that I've pre recorded. That you can do in your own timing. So if you don't do your own healing work and you want to access my healing work, which is really powerful, then you can absolutely do that, and not only that.

Speaker 1:

What's really cool about these pre recorded sessions is it really does have that feel of being in a one on one with me, but for a fraction of the investment, right, so, and you get to go at your own pace and do it in your own timing. You don't have to schedule anything. So that's really awesome. So I'm going to already have a library, honestly, of these healings, and so it's just going to be a matter of, yeah, getting all of that ready to go and inviting you in when I have it ready for you. So I cannot wait to continue sharing this journey. But, yes, in the meantime, email me if you want to join me on this journey, to or share with me in my community, and until then, I'll see you next week.
